Arthur Markus Gran

Arthur “Markus” Gran passed away suddenly on Dec. 22nd in his Willow home. Markus is survived by his brother Thomas Gran, sister-in-law Kristin Gran, nieces Elliana and Lena, nephew Lukas, and cousins in Oslo, Norway. He was predeceased by his mother, Inge Hansen, and father, Arthur Gran. Markus was born on September 11, 1957 in Kingston and spent his early years in Willow, later moving into Woodstock. He spent many summers in Aurora, Maine, winter days skiing at Belleayre and graduated from Onteora. Markus served in the Air Force in Germany and worked as a diesel mechanic in San Diego. After a serious motorcycle accident in California, Markus returned to live with his brother and family, and ultimately returned to Willow where he lived for the last thirty years.
Markus had a big laugh and an even bigger heart - he will be greatly missed. His family thanks and appreciates everyone who helped Markus over the years.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 am at the Woodstock Cemetery, followed by a memorial gathering at the Woodstock Community Center on Rock City Rd. All are welcome.
