Helen D. Van Kirk

WEST HURLEY… Helen D. Van Kirk, 91, of Rte. 28 died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.  Born July 28, 1932 in Poughkeepsie she was the daughter of the late Percy and Florence Ronk.  A lifetime area resident she was formerly employed at Service Merchandise in Fishkill and had volunteered at the Kingston Hospital for many years. ​Helen had a love for sports cars and liked to drag race. She earned the moniker, " Hot rod Helen".

Survivors include two daughters: Deborah (William) Snook and Kathleen Fitzgerald, and three sons: Steven, Bryan (Marjorie) and Mark (Diane) Van Kirk.  Ten grandchildren: Gherid, Tobie, Brandon, Kasey, Benjaymin, Crystal, Emmajean, Justin,Carlyn and Ryan and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Her Service of Remembrance will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Hurley Reformed Church, 11 Main St., Hurley, NY.  Friends may gather from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.   Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Helen’s Tribute Wall at LasherFH.com
