Karen was born to Mildred and George Bischoff on November 20, 1948, in Teaneck, New Jersey. She died quietly at home on the evening of September 21st with her husband, Frank Giersch, and her daughter, Renee Auriemma, at her side. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Wyatt Jenkins of Woodstock, her three brothers, Gary, Douglas, and Roger Bischoff, and her Reiki brothers, sisters, teachers, and students.
Karen's adult life was a testament to her dedication to the Hudson Valley area of New York. She served as a legal secretary and later as a registrar at the Woodstock School of Art, and her volunteer work at a food pantry reflected her selfless spirit. Her dream job was at the Woodstock Library, where she eventually retired.
Karen discovered her love for the concertina during her COVID-19 isolation. She became a Reiki Master and shared her healing gifts with others. She approached her pending death with humor and grace, leaving beautiful gifts for everyone. Karen will be remembered for her compassionate heart, good humor, and giving nature.
We are deeply grateful to Hudson Valley Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Karen's final days. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to Hudson Valley Hospice or Family of Woodstock to honor Karen's memory.
