Laurel “Laurie” Jean (Miller) Manis, 80, of Boiceville, NY passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 28, 2022.
She was born to Edith and Henry Miller on May 28, 1941, in Cambridge, MA. Laurel grew up in Arlington MA and spent much of her childhood playing with her brothers—Henry (“Hank”), Les, and John while also developing new friendships. Those friendships (and new friendships) lasted a lifetime, turning into regular lunches at nearby diners and local restaurants. While in Arlington, Laurel developed her love for dogs and owned her first dog at a very young age. She spent over 40 years as professional dog groomer, while always having a few dogs in her home—even until her passing.
More than anything mom adored her children, her grandchildren, and brothers and sister-in law, never forgetting a holiday, birthday, or the chance to say, “I love you”. Through her 80+ years, mom—Laurie—remained true to her family, friends, and values. And of course, the Boston Red Sox.
Our dear mother is survived by her three children and their spouses: Gregg (Allison) Manis, Gary (Melissa) Manis, Pamela (Dennis) Averill and her beloved grandchildren, Katie and Lauren; Garret, Caroline, and Emily; Brandon and Ashley. She is also survived by her loving brother and his wife, Henry (Virginia) Miller. She was predeceased by both parents and her two brothers, Les and John.
Friends are invited to celebrate her life Saturday, March 5th at 12 pm at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral home, located at 45 John Street, Saugerties, NY. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 am - 12 pm. Lunch and sharing of stories will immediately follow.
