Rackelle Anne Roden

Rackelle Anne Roden, born to Jacob and Madelyn Roden, passed on Friday, October 25th 2019 at 8:00pm. She was surrounded by family and friends, and she will be deeply missed. Rackelle was intuitive, strong-willed and argumentative, intensely loving, empathic, and generous. She was profoundly invested in her own healing, was genuinely committed to and possessed an inherent gift for healing others, and had an unbelievable and contagious sense of wonder about life. Rackelle was born in San Francisco on February 1st, 1964, was raised in Germany and the Netherlands as a child, and grew up in Israel, where her parents founded a music school at the Jerusalem YMCA. She moved with her husband and two children to New York in 1997 and to West Shokan in 2001. She founded the TrailMix Concert Series soon after, bringing classical, klezmer, and jazz musicians to perform in the Catskills. Her ability to create a warm, creative, and welcoming environment for others guided and grew the concert series for a decade, and brought joy to many music lovers in the community. Throughout her life, Rackelle found her own artistic expression in both music and writing. She played the harp, taught singing, and loved to dance. She completed her degree in Creative Writing when she arrived in New York, and wrote a number of works over the years including plays for children, poetry, screenplays, astrology articles, and, her last work, a memoir. Her imagination, wisdom, and humor will be remembered and live on in our memories and through her own words.
