Richard A. Despres, 88, of West Hurley Rd., died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Danby, VT on October 27, 1932 to the late Arthur and Kathleen Jenkins Despres. A veteran of the Korean War heserved with the US Marines and was honorably discharged. He was employed with IBM in Poughkeespie for over 32 years and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. A golf enthusiast he was a member and former President of the Rondout Golf Club and in later years enjoyed playing rounds of golf at the Woodstock Golf Club and Rip Van Winkle. He also enjoyed fly fishing in the east branch of the Delaware River.
He was predeceased by his wife Caroline. Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen Baran of Woodstock and Jeanne Lightbody of Montana; two sons: John of Saugerties and Richard of Texas; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Edward.
His Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., cor. of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will be in the Scottsville Cemetery of Danby, Vt. on May 12, 2021.
