WOODSTOCK… William H. Curtis Jr, 91, of Whitney Drive, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 8, 1932 in Hornell, NY, he was the son of the late William H (Sr) and Letitia Curtis.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Ann, and two brothers, Peter and Emery Curtis. Survivors include his children, William S (& Joy) Curtis and Rebecca S Curtis (& Jerry Flynn) of Malden, MA, and Robert A (& Laura) Curtis of Chapel Hill, NC; siblings Jack (& Rosyln) Curtis, Mary Lou (& Don) Stewart, and Judy Rothel; sisters-in-law, Johanna (& Peter) Curtis and Diane (& Jack) McCall; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Alfred University in NY, where he met his wife Ann, with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. He worked for National Micronetics in Kingston and Fair-Rite in Wallkill. He and Ann lived in Woodstock since 1983, and in his retirement, he was active in the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, doing odd repairs on the Arts Colony. Billl was an engineer by trade but a craftsman at heart. His hands created so much and repaired so many things ravaged by time. He was most comfortable with a tool in hand, usually one that was wickedly sharp, and most likely antique by most people’s standards. Plumbing, electric, electronic, automotive, furniture, cabinetry, industrial design, even gunsmithing, were all within his grasp. He was a man of honor and integrity, an Eagle Scout and leader, husband, and father.
The family is planning a private memorial. Arrangements were under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Bill's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
